The loan will “refinance existing debt and enhance the company’s balance sheet, supporting Aspen’s operations, particularly vaccine production,” according to the International Finance Institution (IFC), the World Bank’s private sector arm. Aspen is obtaining COVID-19 vaccine ingredients from Johnson & Johnson in order to fill and finish the vaccines in South Africa.
