KUALA LUMPUR, 30 JUNE: AstraZeneca said today that 586,700 doses of its Covid-19 vaccination will be delivered to Malaysia in early July, with additional supplies expected in the next weeks and months. The British-Swedish multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology business said in a statement today that it has already delivered over 828,000 doses of its vaccine to Malaysia and is on schedule to deliver 6.4 million doses by early next year.
Dr Sanjeev Panchal, country president of AstraZeneca Malaysia, said the company will continue to work closely with the government and others to get Malaysia back to normal as soon as possible during the current Covid-19 outbreak.
“As we continue to fight the pandemic and its effects, the current delivery estimates for Malaysia illustrate the benefits of the government, industry, and others working together to boost health and economic rebound,” he said.

AstraZeneca has also pledged to help supply millions additional doses of the Covid-19 vaccine through COVAX and contributions. The Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, and the World Health Organization (WHO) are leading COVAX, which aims to speed up the development and production of Covid-19 vaccines while also ensuring fair and equitable access for all countries.
“During the pandemic, AstraZeneca continues to support universal and equitable vaccine access by supplying COVAX and making direct deliveries to governments at no cost. In June 2020, AstraZeneca became the first major pharmaceutical company to join COVAX, supplying over 90% of the vaccinations provided by COVAX globally “”So far,” the firm stated.
It stated that approximately 600 million doses of its vaccine had been released for distribution to 168 nations around the world, with about 30 million doses distributed to ASEAN countries.
As of June 21, the Ministry of Health (MoH) reported that the country had received 828,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, or around 13% of its 6.4 million order.
National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced earlier today that one million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine will be sent from Japan tomorrow (July 1) and will be included in the country’s main immunisation program’s supply.
According to the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply, a total of 7.82 million Covid-19 vaccine doses had been administered across the country as of yesterday, with 5.61 million first doses and 2.21 million second doses (JKJAV).
