Bristol-based William Penn Bank is expanding its footprint into two of the hottest banking markets in the region, opening a Doylestown location in its home base of Bucks County and crossing the river to capitalize on connections in nearby Mercer County, New Jersey. In both cases, CEO Ken Stephon said opportunities were created by the bank branch consolidation that has accelerated at larger banks during the pandemic. “There are a lot of opportunities right now because so many branches have been left vacant,” Stephon said.
