MarketWatch Asian stocks are rising, despite lower Chinese industrial data and concerns about COVID-19. Despite new data suggesting factory activity slowed this month due to virus outbreaks disrupting shipments at major Chinese ports, Asian stocks were generally higher on Wednesday. Tokyo, Shanghai, Sydney, and Seoul all saw gains, while Hong Kong had a slight decline. “It looks like declining demand from key export markets, worsened by chip shortages and logistic logjams, is muting orders across several sectors,” according to Jeffrey Halley of OANDA in a commentary.
