Cosby’s sex assault conviction had been overturned earlier in the day by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court as a result of an arrangement he had with a previous prosecutor that would have precluded him from being charged criminally in the case. According to court documents, the verdict prevents the case from being retried. The 83-year-old comedian had already served two years of a three-to-ten-year sentence for sexually assaulting and drugging Andrea Constand in 2004. Sixty women around the country have accused the “Cosby Show” star of rape or sexual harassment, with many claiming to have been drugged during the encounters. Rashad tweeted, “Finally!” in capital letters with a string of exclamation points. “A horrible injustice is being righted — a judicial miscarriage is being remedied.” Rashad was recently named dean of Howard University’s restored and renamed Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts, where she played Cosby’s wife on two television episodes. Rashad’s position makes him a first responder to sexual assault cases on campus. Howard University’s representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment from CNBC. Previously, Rashad defended Cosby, calling some of the allegations of abuse “orchestrated.” Many people have expressed concern about how she will handle sexual assault charges in her post as dean after seeing her tweet./nRead More
