Feds seize sites posing as Walmart web pages to sell phony COVID-19 cures

The U.S. Department of Justice has seized two internet domains that had allegedly been set up to look like Walmart web pages selling a number of unapproved and experimental drugs to fight Covid-19, prosecutors said. Investigators with the Department of Homeland Security believe that the sites, which appear to have been registered from Russia in 2019, were being secretly used to steal customers’ personal information, prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland said. The sites — and — featured Walmart logos and were designed to appear like official Walmart web pages, even though Walmart doesn’t operate an online pharmacy.
