KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (June 29): From July 2021, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) will open eight private Covid-19 screening facilities at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Five of the screening facilities will be located at the KLIA main terminal, while the other three will be located at the klia2 terminal, according to a statement released today by MAHB. The screening facilities will be equipped with comfortable lounges and seating areas for passengers while they wait for their test results.
“The new facilities are part of a series of enhancements being implemented by Malaysia Airports to increase the comfort and convenience of passengers as they go through the appropriate travel safety measures at the airports,” it added.
The MAHB group’s chief executive officer (CEO), Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh, said the company had worked closely with the relevant authorities to verify that the nominated service provider was authorized to execute such services by the Ministry of Health (MoH).
“We are confident that the new facilities will help to boost travel demand once the borders are reopened.”
“As traffic recovers, the new facilities will be able to handle roughly 40,000 people per day, which will be enough to handle foreign arrivals at both terminals,” he said.
