Foxconn’s major facility in the central Chinese city of Zhengzhou has completed pilot production of Apple’s iPhone 15 series, and is set to start mass production by the end of June. Previously reported challenges in producing the main 48,000 pixel camera have been resolved. Apple expects to hold inventory of 85,000 to 90,000 units, weighted towards the Pro models. To enable it to meet demand, Foxconn has increased bonuses for new employees at the site, which was subject to considerable disruption last year as workers protested amid Covid-related restrictions. Furthermore, to ensure an uninterrupted supply chain, Luxshare Precision Industry, an electric equipment manufacturer in Shenzhen, will serve as backup producer of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.
