KUALA LUMPUR, 30 JUNE: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today launched the MyAssist MSME Portal, a one-stop shop and new standard for small and medium-sized businesses’ business facilitation needs (SMEs). The portal, which is a government initiative under the National Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA), provides a platform for SMEs to seek business advice and information, guidance, and digital marketing opportunities, according to the Prime Minister.
“In the new normal, the platform will aid SMEs in resolving their business-related challenges and issues.” This demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring that local SMEs are equipped to meet contemporary challenges.”
In a pre-recorded address for the virtual inauguration of MyAssist MSME Portal and National SME Week 2021 today, Muhyiddin said this.
He noted that the portal’s development was timed to coincide with the COVID-19 pandemic, which compelled society to adopt digital applications in many parts of daily life, resulting in a rise in the usage of information technology.
SME entrepreneurs, according to Muhyiddin, must reform and embrace the concept of digitalisation in order to compete and boost their business efficiency.
“Digitization is a critical component, not just for reviving a firm but also for those looking to create one.” As a result, entrepreneurs can no longer take a wait-and-see approach,” he explained.
The Prime Minister stated that the government has announced the implementation of the national digital infrastructure plan, Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA), which will be the country’s digital communication improvement platform under the 12th Malaysia Plan, in order to improve the country’s digital network (2021-2025).
He explained that JENDELA will be the platform for achieving that goal by speeding the country’s digital connectivity by distributing mobile, fiber optic, and wireless access and paving the road for 5G.
He claimed that implementing a nationwide digitalization plan would help Malaysians from all walks of life.
Meanwhile, Muhyiddin praised SME Corp Malaysia’s initiative to virtualize the National SME Week 2021 via the MyAssist MSME webpage as commendable.
He stated that the National SME Week, themed ‘Small Businesses, Big Ideas,’ was intended to be a stepping stone for SMEs to venture into internet commerce and have more access to a wider market by researching cross-border businesses at the international level.
While applauding the ASEAN Access portal on its opening on June 16, Prime Minister Abe stated the portal also has trade information and market access for SMEs to investigate in order to develop their business to the ASEAN region.
“I believe the ASEAN Access portal, which also houses MyAssist, would pave the way for local SMEs to expand abroad and for foreign SMEs to pick Malaysia as a location for investment and commercial expansion, hence boosting the country’s economic growth,” he said.
Muhyiddin also hoped that Malaysians, as customers, would show their support for micro, small, and medium-sized businesses by using social media platforms to raise awareness and promote local SMEs’ products and services.
“To all micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, I urge you to make full use of the MyAssist MSME platform to grow your firm.”
With its interactive advice module, business matching, e-exhibition, and online exposition, the portal is a future one-stop shop. He went on to say, “And the future is now.” Continue reading
