IPOH (June 29): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) of Perak will call up several individuals in connection with allegations that a piece of government land in Bagan Tiang, Parit Buntar had been awarded to a company.

Perak MACC director Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohamad said they would be called up in the near future to assist in the investigation under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009, following allegations that a 19-hectare piece of land had been awarded to a company for prawn farming.

“Among the witnesses to be called up include from the Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation (PPPNP) as well as district and land offices to give statements regarding the report lodged by the Perak Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) recently.

“We have also recorded the statement from the complainant on the day the report was lodged and the case is still under investigation,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

On June 22, Perak AMK chief Muhamad Hairul Amir Sabri had lodged the report at the Perak MACC office which, among others, asked that an investigation be carried out on a company that had obtained permission for the land, despite the fact that it was only formed in September last year, while approval for the land was given two months later.
