KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (June 29): Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, the former president and group chief executive officer (CEO) of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), has been named chairman of Gas Malaysia Bhd.
Wan Zulkiflee’s appointment as Gas Malaysia’s independent and non-executive chairman will take effect on Thursday, according to today’s Bursa announcements (July 1).
Datuk Hasni Harun, Gas Malaysia’s current independent and non-executive chairman, will quit tomorrow, the company announced today (June 30).
Harun opted to resign today “to pursue other responsibilities,” according to Gas Malaysia.
Wan Zulkiflee, the non-executive group chairman of Malaysia Aviation Group Bhd and Malaysia Airlines Bhd, is also chairman of DRB-Hicom Bhd, according to Gas Malaysia.
“Since July 1, 2020, Wan Zulkiflee has served as the non-executive group chairman of Malaysia Airlines and Malaysia Aviation Group. Wan Zulkiflee was president and group CEO of Petronas from April 2015 to June 2020 before joining Malaysia Airlines.
“On September 1, 2020, he was named chairman of DRB-Hicom,” Gas Malaysia said.
Gas Malaysia shares were unchanged at RM2.74 at 2.42pm on Bursa today, with a market capitalization of roughly RM3.51 billion.
1.28 billion shares have been issued by Gas Malaysia.
