SHAH ALAM (30th June): To speed up the vaccination procedure in the state under the Selangor Vaccine Programme, the Selangor State government has ordered 2.5 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine from Pharmaniaga Berhad to be administered to 1.25 million participants (SelVAX). According to Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, the SelVAX Community category will vaccinate 250,000 people in Selangor for free, while the SelVAX Industry category, which is a voluntary paid vaccination program for interested companies, will vaccinate one million workers, including foreign workers.
He noted that enterprises participating in the program will not be permitted to charge any charges to their employees, as specified in the agreement and consent form, and that employers who break the agreement will face legal action.
“SelVAX Industry, which complements the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) at the national level, has received a positive response, with large companies such as 99 Speedmart, Ernst & Young, Telekom Malaysia, Touch n Go, EcoWorld, and Tropicana participating in the program,” he said in a special announcement on his Facebook page today about the launch of SelVAX.
“SelVAX is likely to increase daily vaccination capacity and reduce the time to achieve the 80 percent adult population immunization objective in Selangor by October this year by around 100 days,” he said.
Amirudin stated that SelVAX will mobilize five mega vaccination centers, six community halls, 15 Selcare clinics, and 1,229 panel clinics to finish the state’s immunisation efforts involving 5,000 medical and non-medical people.
“There are massive vaccination centers at Tropicana Gardens Mall in Kota Damansara, Evo Mall in Bangi, Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS) Sports Complex in Kelana Jaya, De Palma Hotel in Shah Alam, and Aurora Mall in Bukit Jalil,” he said.
To avoid overlapping vaccination appointments and certifications, the names of vaccine recipients under SelVAX will be cross-checked against those of the Health Ministry.
