PUTRAJAYA, 30 JUNE (A+A): The vaccination process for more than 400 members of Parliament began today at different vaccination centers across the federal capital, according to Khairy Jamaluddin, the Coordinating Minister for the National Covid-19 National Immunization Program.
He explained that it was done in preparation for the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara sittings to open soon.
“We want to make sure that every member of Parliament is protected against the Covid-19 virus,” he said today at a press conference with Health Minister Datuk Dr Adham Baba on the creation of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
He added that the immunization included housekeeping and catering personnel at the House of Commons.
All Members of Parliament, according to Khairy, have been informed that their employees who will accompany them to the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara would also be vaccinated.

In other news, Khairy announced that Malaysia will get one million doses of Astrazeneca vaccine tomorrow from the Japanese government and another one million doses of Pfizer vaccine on Friday from the United States.
He acknowledged Malaysia’s gratitude for the vaccine, saying it represented the country’s confidence in its fight against Covid-19 as well as support for the worldwide vaccination campaign.
“With this vaccination donation, we will be able to ramp up PICK and help Malaysia meet the National Recovery Plan’s threshold value” (PPN).
“All vaccines and PPV for PICK will be distributed immediately to all locations,” he added.
With the installation of the second dose injection, he said, numerous major PPVs will begin running at a higher rate today, including the KLCC PPV, which will boost its capacity to 8,000 doses per day, and the Setia City PPV, which will expand its capacity to 6,000 doses per day.
“To ensure seamless operation and avoid congestion,” he added, “all of the institutions involved are prepared to tolerate a greater vaccination rate.”
