PUTRAJAYA, 5 JULY: According to Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, a total of 584 Covid-19 cases have been discovered in Malaysia due to new varieties that are more prevalent and faster, as well as airborne transmission. According to him, the new variants were discovered as a result of several precautionary measures taken in response to the threat of the Delta variant (B1617.2), including genome sequencing, in response to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) announcement that the new variant posed a threat to certain countries.
“We discovered that there are concerns of new variations in our country,” he stated today at a press briefing with PICK Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin on the establishment of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK).
He said 40 cases of the Delta variation, which is reported to be aggressive, 136 cases of the Beta variant (B.1.351), 10 cases of the Alpha variant (B117), two cases of the B1525 variant, four cases of B161.7.14, and 392 cases of variants of concern (VOC).
According to Dr. Adham, the Ministry of Health (MOH) will carry out a variety of ongoing preventive and control efforts, based on the high occurrence rate in a given location, with cases spreading quickly and resulting in deaths.
“We’ll generate a genome sequence and use that to determine whether a person was infected by a novel variation,” he explained.
“It also has something to do with the vaccine that was given. We’ve been told that two basic doses should be implemented across the country in order to establish immunization and resistance to the new variants “Dr. Adham stated.
When it comes to the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund, The fund has yet to be used, according to Dr. Adham.
According to him, the Mysejahtera application has received 18.6 answers about adverse effects following immunisation for every 1,000 doses of vaccine distributed since the start of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
“Pain at the injection site, headache, and weariness are common adverse effects among vaccine recipients,” he said./nRead More
