KOTA KINABALU, KOTA KINABALU, KOTA KINABALU, KOTA KINABALU, KOTA KINABA According to Sabah Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun, 69 inhabitants of Kampung Pondo, Pulau Gaya close here, are being hunted down after fleeing the region to dodge the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).
Members of the Pulau Gaya police station are attempting to trace down all of the individuals involved, according to Masidi, who is also the spokeswoman for the Sabah government’s Covid-19.
“The residents are believed to have escaped on their way to the Covid-19 quarantine and low-risk treatment centre,” he said in a statement tonight. “As a result, the Sabah government urges those who fled from the EMCO area in Kampung Pondo, Pulau Gaya, to return to the village immediately to ensure they do not infect other communities.”
He warned that if they didn’t, the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Areas) (Movement Control) (No 4) (Amendment) (No 16) Regulations 2021 will be used against them.
Masidi also requested members of the public to contact the police if they have any information regarding the people who fled the area.
Due to an increase of Covid-19 infections in the area, Kampung Pondo, Pulau Gaya, has been placed under the EMCO from June 30 to July 13 in Sabah.
Following that, on July 8, the Sabah government agreed to broaden EMCO enforcement to include the entire hamlet of Pulau Gaya.
Masidi said 225 additional cases were recorded today in the state as part of the Covid-19 outbreak, bringing the total number of cases to 70,495.
In Kota Kinabalu, a new cluster, the Agora Borneo cluster, was discovered, as well as one fatality in Tawau.
