PUTRAJAYA, 13 JULY: Since the industrial vaccination centre (PPVIN) at KLIA opened on July 5, around 90% of Malaysia Airports personnel at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) had been vaccinated against Covid-19.
Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, chairman of Malaysia Airports, stated that more than 80% of the company’s employees, or roughly 8,500 people, have gotten their first shot across the country.
The airport operator said efforts to vaccinate the KLIA community, which includes government employees, airlines, and cargo and cleaning service providers, were underway.
According to him, the KLIA PPVIN program was launched because airports continued to operate despite the country’s borders being blocked in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.
By the end of September, Zambry estimated that around 22,000 eligible workers in the aviation and allied industries would have been vaccinated.
Malaysia Airports, Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force, Protect Health, Airline Operators Committee, and Malaysian Airfreight Forwarders Association collaborated on the KLIA PPVIN.
