According to Reuters, Bank of England (BoE) Deputy Governor Dave Ramsden said on Wednesday that many of the inflation factors in the US economy are also present in the UK economy.
“The US Federal Reserve also believes that high levels of inflation are just temporary.”
“The US Fed uses a flexible average inflation target, and we aim for 2% at all times.”
“Inflation expectations in the United States today appear to be well-anchored.”
“The situation in the United States does not increase to whatever concerns we could have in MPC.”
“It’s possible that we won’t be able to fulfill our current asset acquisition program.”
“On the gilts side, there are a variety of options.”
These remarks do not appear to have had a significant impact on the British pound’s performance against its competitors. The GBP/USD pair was trading at 1.3855 at the time of writing, up 0.35 percent on the day.
