KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (July 1): Through the Go-eCommerce Onboarding Campaign, homegrown e-wallet Boost is delivering merchant solutions at no cost to further enable micro, small, and medium companies (MSMEs) transition online. The Ministry of Finance and Malaysia Digital Economy Corp launched the campaign as part of the Budget 2021 digital adoption program (MDEC).
As the country continues to be in phase one of the National Recovery Plan, the chance to cooperate with the government to provide MSMEs with a digital commerce and payments solution is relevant, according to CEO Mohd Khairil Abdullah.
“This solution is especially critical given the huge shift in customer consumption and spending behavior to online since 2020,” he stated in a statement today.
Boost announced last year that its total gross transaction value (GTV) more than doubled in 2019, with GTV for payments made at online merchants alone increasing by 40% in 2020.
Many merchants, according to Mohd Khairil, may lack the financial resources to pay large commission fees to e-commerce platforms or lack the technological know-how to know where or how to establish an online business.
“”Our merchant team will also be providing full-service online onboarding support, making it easier for MSMEs to transition their company operations online in this new age of e-commerce,” he said.
According to him, Boost plans to expand on the momentum of last year’s MSME e-commerce campaign, with the goal of tripling the number of MSME merchants it helps onboard and digitalize.
From July 1 to December 31, 2021, Boost will offer perks such as a zero merchant discount rate or MDR (a minimum fee imposed to merchants at a particular rate for each transaction performed) through the Go-eCommerce Onboarding Campaign.
Other benefits include no sign-up or onboarding fees, financial incentives of up to RM500 for businesses, help getting started selling online, and digital marketing aid.
This year, an in-app comprehensive end-to-end e-commerce solution is in the works to complement its omnichannel e-wallet platform capabilities.
MSMEs interested in joining Boost’s Go-eCommerce Onboarding Campaign should register at http://myboost.com.my/business/campaign/go-ecommerce, and a member of the Boost Merchant team will contact them within five working days.

In a separate statement, Lazada said it would operate “Shop Malaysia Online” and “Go-eCommerce” campaigns concurrently with MOF and MDEC from July 1 to December 31, 2021 to boost local SMEs.
Lazada was the first eCommerce platform to support local businesses during the first and second Movement Control Orders, according to chief operating officer Darren Rajaratnam, investing more than RM50 million through its Pakej Kedai Pintar stimulus packages.
“Over the last 18 months, we’ve continued to engage in and support the MSME community through a variety of programs and partnerships with MDEC and the local government.”
Since then, the number of new MSMEs enrolling our eCommerce platform has increased by more than 300 percent, future-proofing thousands of local firms and allowing them to adapt and pivot into recovery and growth “He went on to say, “h mode.”
Lazada’s Shop Malaysia Online campaign will provide consumers with additional benefits when they shop locally online, including 50% off vouchers, wild flash sales, and free shipping all day.
Meanwhile, the Go-eCommerce initiative, which is co-funded by Lazada and MDEC, aims to assist over 40,000 local SMEs in beginning their digital journey and increasing their exposure and sales through selected incentives.
