KUALA LUMPUR, 15 JULY: Tunku Alizakri Alias, the former CEO of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), has been appointed as an independent director of Bumi Armada Bhd, effective today. Bumi Armada, 51, has 20 years of experience in senior management and board-level roles in a variety of sectors and industries, including retirement funds, financial services, central banking, healthcare, media and telecommunication, plantation, oil and gas, and property development, according to a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
Alizakri’s most recent managerial position, according to Bumi Armada, was as CEO of EPF, the world’s sixth largest retirement fund, with roughly US$250 billion in assets under administration.
“Sustainability, enterprise digitization and transformation, business strategy, and fund management are among his specialties.”
Tunku Alizakri was the chief marketing officer and chief operational officer of the Iclif Leadership and Governance Centre prior to joining EPF.
He was also a director of strategic management at Bank Negara Malaysia, a director and head of strategy and corporate affairs at DiGi Telecommunications Bhd, and a vice-president and head of group strategic planning at Malayan Banking Bhd, according to the statement.
According to Bumi Armada, Alizakri is currently a board member of Kwasa Utama Sdn Bhd, Battersea Project Holding Company Ltd, Battersea Project Land Company Ltd, and vice-chairperson of the International Social Security Association’s technical commission on organization, management, and innovation.
