KUALA LUMPUR (July 9): At midday today, the Bursa Malaysia remained higher, owing to continued purchasing activity in the broader market. The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 8.63 points to 1,517.34 at 12.30 p.m., up from 1,508.71 at the closing on Thursday.
The market leader opened 0.35 of a point lower at 1,508.36, its lowest level of the day, and reached an intraday high of 1,519.12.
Gainers outnumbered losers 524 to 311 on the broader market, with 434 counters unchanged, 934 untraded, and 10 others suspended.
2.46 billion units worth RM1.54 billion were sold.
Malayan Banking Bhd gained six sen to RM8.09, Public Bank Bhd gained two sen to RM4.07, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd gained one sen to RM8, Tenaga Nasional Bhd gained five sen to RM9.67, IHH Healthcare Bhd was unchanged at RM5.60, while Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd declined two sen to RM4.91.
Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd increased 2.5 sen to 46.5 sen, Kanger International Bhd and AT Systematization Bhd increased half a sen to six sen and seven sen, respectively, Careplus Group Bhd increased 13 sen to RM1.78, Pegasus Heights Bhd remained unchanged at two sen, and Asdion Bhd decreased 29 sen to 42.5 sen.
The FBM Emas Index gained 61.59 points to 11,050.34, the FBMT 100 Index gained 58.68 points to 10,762.99, the FBM Emas Shariah Index gained 69.95 points to 12,083.44, the FBM ACE gained 106.06 points to 7,169.58, and the FBM 70 gained 68.26 points to 14,315.66 on the index board.
The Financial Services Index increased by 79.74 points to 14,956.6, the Industrial Products and Services Index increased by 0.47 point to 186.73, and the Plantation Index increased by 9.47 points to 6,286.31./nRead More
