Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA), which has never been able to match its high demand, is continuing its global development with new plants approaching completion in Berlin, Germany, and Austin, Texas.
Tesla’s future entrance into India has also sparked speculation. Tesla appeared to be preparing for a vehicle launch in India in April, with new personnel, a corporate office, and a showroom in the nation.
What Happened: Tesmanian has now posted photos of a Tesla Model 3 with a camo wrap driving in India. The Model 3 was spotted driving in Pune, Maharashtra, a city in western India. Trade Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, according to Tesmanian, has requested Tesla to explore constructing automobiles in the region. He said that the cost of manufacturing an electric vehicle for Tesla will be the lowest in the world.

Why is it significant: After Japan, India is the world’s fifth-largest vehicle market, according to Statista. Tesla already sells cars in the top four markets, with factories in three of them up and running or under construction.
If Tesla can start selling Model 3s in India, it will be able to reach a much larger audience. Even better, having a facility in the area would allow for lower-cost manufacturing and faster, less expensive delivery.
Benzinga’s Opinion: While this is excellent news for potential Indian buyers, one must ask how Tesla would meet the increased demand. Tesla’s order backlog, according to rumors, is months long. Tesla will need to have its new Gigafactories up and operating as soon as possible to keep up with the high demand for its automobiles.
