BEIJING – China plans to hold a launching ceremony for its national carbon emission trading scheme (ETS) on July 16, according to two people familiar with the topic. The ETS will affect 2,225 power plants in China, which are responsible for around 4 billion tonnes of carbon emissions each year.
The country will surpass the United States as the world’s largest carbon trading market in terms of volume.
