1 Minute Read by Reuters Staff (Reuters) – BEIJING, July 13 – China’s crude oil imports decreased 2% month over month in June, to the lowest level since 2021, as a quota shortage and rising world prices stifled demand. Last month, imports totaled 40.14 million tonnes, or 9.77 million barrels per day, according to data issued by the General Administration of Customs on Tuesday (bpd). The world’s top crude oil importer hauled in 260.66 million tonnes of crude in the first half of 2021, down 3% from a year earlier, thanks to strong purchases in the first quarter, particularly by independent refineries.
