1 Minute Read by Reuters Staff Reuters, Kinshasa, July 5 – According to a presidential decree, President Felix Tshisekedi nominated Malangu Kabedi-Mbuyi, a former International Monetary Fund (IMF) official, as governor of the central bank on Monday. Deogratias Mutombo, who has managed the bank since 2013, will be replaced by Kabedi-Mbuyi, who would be the bank’s first female governor. Mutombo has been named the new head of the Congo’s insurance regulator. She will be in charge of reviewing efforts to strengthen the central bank’s autonomy, as part of a three-year, $1.5 billion loan arrangement struck with the IMF in May.
