Prices for transport, housing, and clothing saw increases in April.

Consumer prices rose 1.1% YoY in April, slightly lower than the 2% increase in March, C&SD reported.

Following the government’s one-off relief measures, the underlying inflation rate was 0.9%, compared to the 1% increase in March.

Consumers felt price increases in alcoholic drinks and tobacco, meals out and takeaway food, miscellaneous services, transport, miscellaneous goods, housing, and clothing and footwear.

On the other hand, prices of electricity, gas, water, energy-related items, durable goods, and basic food declined.

Looking ahead, the government expects to contain overall inflation.
