KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (July 6): Malaysia’s newly confirmed Covid-19 cases increased to 7,654 from 6,387 yesterday, the highest amount in 31 days since June 5.
According to the Ministry of Health, about 43% of new cases were discovered in Selangor, where various areas and sub-districts are under harsher lockdown for two weeks till July 16.
In Kuala Lumpur, there were 1,550 new cases reported today, up from 819 the day before. This is the largest number of new infections per day ever recorded in Malaysia’s capital.
The number of new cases in Negeri Sembilan, which has a population of 1.13 million people, remained stubbornly high today, at 698.
Meanwhile, Johor (313), Sarawak (286), Melaka (230), Sabah (225), Pahang (180), and Kelantan each recorded 337 cases (118).
The total number of Covid-19 cases in the country has risen to 792,693, with 265,722 in Selangor.
