India’s Seafund Ventures has invested Rs 5 crore across five sustainability-focused startups, while global kiwifruit marketer Zespri has launched a $2-million annual fund.
Seafund invests in Redwings, Docker
Early-stage-focused Seafund Ventures has invested Rs 5 crore across five sustainability-focused startups — Redwings, Docker Vision, Swapp Design, Simatricals, and Evhicle.
The fund plans to invest 20% of its entire investible corpus in clean energy and the EV value chain, including sectors like transportation, logistics, and circular economy, according to a release.
Seafund is currently raising its second fund with a target corpus of Rs 250 crore.
“We take pride in the fact that for us, sustainability and EV-related sectors have always been a priority, and it is now that we are seeing real innovation across the value chain,” said Manoj Agarwal, Managing Partner, SeaFund.
Seafund is a Category 2 Alternate Investment Fund registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India. Along with fintech, enterprise SaaS, and healthcare, the fund also focuses on AI, semiconductors, space, energy, climate, and materials.
Zespri launches annual fund called ZAG
Global kiwifruit marketer Zespri has launched a $2-million annual fund named ZAG, according to a release.
ZAG is seeking firms focused on sustainable agriculture, technology, automation, packaging, supply chain, logistics, and industry education to help address some of the key challenges faced by the industry in catering to the growing demand for kiwi fruit.
“We want to be the ZAG the food system needs. Our ambitions are greater than our capabilities, and with this in mind, we are inviting others to partner with us to help solve challenges that impact our fruit and the well-being of people, communities, and the environment,” said Jiunn Shih, chief marketing, innovation, and sustainability officer at Zespri.
ZAG will support projects focused on initiatives driving orchard productivity, promoting well-being through kiwifruit consumption, environment sustainability, and benefitting growers and the local communities.
