KUCHING, INDONESIA (July 8): According to the Institute of Health and Community Medicine (IHCM) of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, the first Covid-19 positive case involving the Delta variation has been discovered in Sarawak (UNIMAS).
The mutation was discovered lately during IHCM’s genome sequencing investigation, according to a statement released today.
“On June 18, a 56-year-old male was diagnosed with the variation, and his case was classed as an Import B case,” it stated.
IHCM stated that, in addition to the Delta variant, positive instances involving the Beta and Theta variants had already been discovered in Sarawak.
Up until June 26, a total of 59 cases involving the Variant of Concern (VOC) and the Variant of Interest (VOI) had been discovered in positive cases.
IHCM has been at the vanguard of the fight against the pandemic in the state since the breakout of Covid-19 last year.
