HONG KONG: According to a statement, Didi Global Inc had no idea that China’s internet administration would begin an investigation into the firm and order its app to be taken down over its management of customer data before its US$4.4 billion New York offering last week. “Prior to the IPO, Didi was unaware of the CAC’s decisions, which were announced on July 2 and 4, 2021, regarding the cybersecurity review and suspension of new user registrations in China, and the removal of the Didi Chuxing app from Chinese app stores, respectively,” the company told Reuters on Monday.
