KUALA LUMPUR (June 22): Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX) has today (June 22) appointed two directors, namely Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd’s Dr Chen Wei-Ming besides oil and gas veteran Datuk Robert Fisher.

In Bursa Malaysia filings today, IT services provider DNeX said Chen, who is a Taiwanese, had in 2017, joined Hon Hai, known globally as Foxconn Technology Group, as vice president and special assistant to the group’s founder Terry Guo.

DNeX said Chen “has served on the board of Hon Hai group subsidiaries including Sharp, Foxsemicon, Shun Sin Technology, and Socle Technology”.

On Fisher, DNeX said today he has 45 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with expertise and experience in senior management of oil and gas downstream and upstream businesses, including production and project development.

“He has a track record of successful delivery of complex, multinational, commercial solutions involving host governments and other stakeholders at the multi-billion dollar scale. Throughout his career, he has proven the capability to lead and develop large and diverse organisations globally.

“He is effective in any national and cultural environment. He is goal and stewardship oriented, and believes he is personally accountable for results and all aspects of business performance,” said DNeX, which also offers oil and gas support services.

Hon Hai had recently emerged as a substantial shareholder in DNeX. According to DNeX’s filing on June 14, 2021, Hon Hai had on June 10, 2021 become a substantial shareholder in DNeX with a 5.032% stake comprising 120 million shares.

DNeX said Hon Hai’s deemed interest of 5.032% is pursuant to the acquisition of DNeX shares by Foxconn Singapore Pte Ltd.

At 2:39pm today, DNeX shares were traded 1.5 sen or 1.81% higher at 84.5 sen, which gives the company a market capitalisation of about RM2.03 billion.

DNeX has 2.4 billion issued shares.
