KUALA LUMPUR (May 19): Eduspec Holdings Bhd (EHB) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Get Success Sdn Bhd to jointly work out a commercial and business model for the creation of E-Sports Academy in Malaysia.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, EHB said the new E-Sports Academy would follow the model of EA Sports Academy overseas with relevant certification from recognised educational institutions and organisations.
“EHB will leverage on the experience in education and Get Success based on their experience in the gaming industry will jointly develop and/or source for suitable e-sports training programmes targeting students and young adults,” it said.
It said the MoU would be in force for six months with Get Success to take primary responsibilities to provide the industry needs as well as identify and curate the suitable courses.
“EHB will take primary responsibilities to work with other education institutions and Government agencies to offer their services to provide most relevant trainings to support the growth of e-sports industry in Malaysia,” it said.
In a separate filing with Bursa Malaysia, EHB has proposed to acquire 2,000 ordinary shares or 20% equity interest in Get Success for RM6 million.
EHB said the proposed purchase price was arrived at after taking into consideration the value of two assets namely the game engines together with the licence to use the intellectual property (IP) to the community platform and the potential of the business.
“The proposed acquisition is in line with EHB’s new B2C business focus and directions.
“It will help the company to expand its business horizontally (extra products) and vertically (covering older children and young adult market share),” it added.
Get Success is engaged in games publishing for mobiles and providing social community platforms for gaming as well as advertising, marketing and promoting mobile games distribution in Southeast Asia.
It also engaged in investment and consultancy services in e-sports opportunities.
