KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (July 6): From Thursday (July 8) to July 21, the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will be in effect in many areas across Pahang, Sarawak, and Sabah, according to Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He added the EMCO in Pahang will feature the Orang Asli villages of Kampung Kerpal and Kampung Pinang in Rompin, while the one in Sarawak would involve Kampung Mambong in Kuching.
On Sabah, the EMCO would include Tawau’s Kampung Sri Menanti, Tawau’s Kampung Kasuapan, Kampung Lok Urai, Kampung Pulau Gaya, and Kota Kinabalu’s Kampung Pondo in Pulau Gaya.
“The EMCO is being implemented to ensure that residents at risk of infection remain in the areas, allowing the Ministry of Health (MOH) to conduct early case detections,” he said today in a statement on the National Recovery Plan (PPN) and EMCO.
According to him, the EMCO was enacted after a risk assessment was conducted jointly by the various agencies in the MCO technical committee and on the suggestion of the MOH.
Ismail Sabri also revealed that the government has agreed to halt the EMCO in Kampung Kuala Merotai, Kalabakan, Sabah, on Thursday, July 9, a day earlier than planned.
The EMCO in Kunak’s Kampung JKR Lama and Kampung Pangi Hujung; Kota Belud’s Kampung Kebayau; and Kota Kinabalu’s Kampung Likas will also conclude on July 8.
During yesterday’s inspections and snap checks, the Compliance Operation Task Force ordered the closure of 27 facilities, including factories, enterprises, building sites, and workers’ quarters, for violating government instructions and the specified standard operating procedure (SOP).
According to Ismail Sabri, 548 people were detained for breaking the SOP yesterday, with 539 of them being compounded and nine being remanded./nRead More
