TechNode announced Tuesday plans to hold its third annual Emerge conference in partnership with the Overseas Talent Entrepreneurship Conference (OTEC). The conference will include the first-ever OTEC-Emerge Tech Awards, which honor promising startups founded in China by international teams.

Emerge is TechNode’s annual conference on emerging trends in China tech, presenting a strategic and forward-looking view of the sector in English, with expert voices and representatives of leading companies. 2021 is Emerge’s third year and its first in Beijing. The theme of this year’s conference is “What’s next for tech in the new normal?”

This year, Emerge is part of the OTEC-Emerge Tech Summit, which includes a conference, a networking event, and a one-on-one VC meetup. Emerge and the Chambers Roundtable will take place on August 13 at the Chaoyang Museum of Urban Planning in Beijing while the VC Meetup will be held the next day on August 14.

The conference will include three panels, a keynote speech, and awards presentations. TechNode and OTEC will also organize an invite-only Chambers Roundtable networking event in the evening after the conference. The venue of the conference and the Chambers Roundtable, the Chaoyang Museum of Urban Planning, is a former factory located in Chaoyang Park. It is the only art museum in Beijing to combine the city’s industrial and Olympic heritages. The 17,000 square meter building’s old-meets-new architecture includes exhibitions about the urban development of Chaoyang District, Beijing’s CBD, the 798 art district, and the Olympic Green.

Admission to the Emerge conference is free with approval. To request a ticket, please register here. As seats are limited, please register early to secure your seat.

OTEC and TechNode will also launch a new tech award, aiming to recognize the work of international founding teams in China. The OTEC-Emerge Tech Awards will honor early-stage startups whose founding teams include at least one citizen of a country other than China or a Chinese overseas talent returnee. Startups up to the Series A level are eligible to apply in three categories: Smart Mobility, Fintech, and E-commerce/New retail.

Apart from the three tech vertical awards, OTEC-Emerge Tech Awards will also give out three other Best of Awards to recognize outstanding tech startups in China. The three best of awards are Best Tech Innovation Award, Best Investment Value Award, and Rising Star Award.

These awards will be judged by a selected group of editors and reporters of foreign media in China, international VCs, and corporate executives who are experts in their respective fields. All winners will receive opportunities to meet with investment institutions, enroll in a founders’ training workshop,  Phoenix Plan, and an onboarding program in Chaoyang, Beijing. The award winners will also be invited to attend the BEYOND International Technology Expo in Macau from Aug. 26-28, 2021 with a standard booth at the expo and two full professional passes.

Nominations for the awards are open now on this website. The deadline to submit your nomination is by July 31, 2021, at 11:59 pm.

We look forward to welcoming the tech community in Beijing next month. Visit Emerge website for more updates.
