KUALA LUMPUR (May 31): Eversendai Corp Bhd said its wholly-owned subsidiary Eversendai Offshore had successfully loaded out the foundation jacket structure for a 700MW high voltage alternating current offshore Beta topside platform for the Hollandse Kust (Zuid) Offshore Wind Farm in the Netherlands, which is developed by TenneT, a leading European electricity transmission system operator.

In a statement, the group said the foundation jacket structure is now heading to its final destination in the North Sea in Europe where it will then be lifted and positioned in a water depth of approximately 21 metres.

This Hollandse Kust (Zuid) Beta substation together with the Hollandse Kust (Zuid) Alpha substation will collect electricity generated by offshore wind turbines at the Hollandse Kust (Zuid) 1-4 offshore wind farm, and transform and deliver electricity to the Dutch national grid.

“It is a significant achievement to deliver our second offshore wind renewable energy project safely with high quality, and Eversendai is glad to be part of the renewable energy industry and acknowledges the importance of the energy transition. With the successful delivery of these offshore wind renewable energy projects, Eversendai is focused on further developing and growing our presence in this sector,” said Narish Nathan, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Eversendai Offshore.

This project was awarded by Petrofac to Eversendai Offshore, and the scope of work included fabrication engineering, fabrication and construction of the jacket, piles and its appurtenances, including load-out and sea-fastening. This is the second six-legged jacket Eversendai Offshore has fabricated and constructed for the offshore wind renewable energy sector in Europe.

Eversendai’s strategy of diversification into industries that utilises its strong structural steel expertise will continue to be pursued, and this will create a more sustainable business for the group, according to Eversendai.

Currently, Eversendai has an outstanding order book of RM2.01 billion and a few new project awards are in final stages of negotiations, which should be concluded before the end of 2021.

At 12.15pm, Eversendai’s shares price traded half a sen or 2.13% lower at 23 sen, bringing it a market capitalisation of RM180 million, with 245,100 shares traded.
