KUALA LUMPUR, 15 JULY: Today, the FBM KLCI rose 8.5 points, or 0.56 percent, to 1,520.82. Top Glove Corp Bhd, Hartalega Holdings Bhd, and Mr DIY Group (M) Bhd led the lead in terms of index constituents. Sime Darby Plantation Bhd, Petronas Dagangan Bhd, and MISC Bhd, on the other hand, are the leading decliners among the component stocks.
Market breadth was positive in the broader market, with 611 counters showing gains versus 348 counters posting falls and 500 counters remaining unchanged.
Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd, Careplus Group Bhd, and LKL International Bhd were the most active companies today. Hartalega Holdings Bhd, KESM Industries Bhd, and Adventa Bhd were the top gainers for the day. Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, Kumpulan H&L High-Tech Bhd, and Widetech (M) Bhd were the biggest losers.
In other Asian markets, the Hang Seng in Hong Kong was up 0.75 percent, or 208.81 points, to 29,996.27. The Shanghai Composite rose 36.09 points, or 1.02 percent, to 3,654.59. The Nikkei 225, on the other hand, down 1.15 percent, or 329.4 points, to 28,729.09, while the Straits Times Index, across the causeway, fell 0.48 percent, or 15.08 points, to 3,138.07.
Better mood was attributed to statements made by the US Federal Reserve, according to Vincent Lau, head of stock sales at Rakuten Trade Research.
