KUALA LUMPUR (June 17): The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) will contribute three months’ Meeting Attendance Allowance (EMM) of the corporation’s members to the Disaster Trust Account for COVID-19-related expenses.

FINAS said this was as a sign of its members’ solidarity and support in helping those affected by the pandemic.

The contribution, it added, was among the decisions made at a meeting chaired by FINAS chairman Zakaria Abdul Hamid.

“In addition, to support the government’s efforts to achieve herd immunity as soon as possible through the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, the meeting also agreed to apply for the opening of a vaccination centre (PPV) at FINAS’ premises for the purpose of vaccinating the creative industry players,” he said in a statement today.

The meeting also agreed to give a 50% discount on rental of facility, production equipment and purchase of footage under FINAS until this December, subject to conditions and regulations, including for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak.

Other conditions include a discount for usage worth RM1,000 and above while the broadcast station is not subject to the rental conditions and rules for the discount rate.

FINAS said approval could be given to companies making bookings of more than one project.
