TAIPEI — Taiwan’s Hon Hai Precision Industry is ramping up efforts to produce automotive semiconductors in-house, as the company, best known for building iPhones for Apple, seeks more profitable pastures in electric vehicle assembly.

The manufacturer commonly known as Foxconn is confident it can “provide customers with the most competitive automotive solutions,” Jun Seki, chief strategy officer for EVs, said Tuesday, while announcing a partnership with Infineon Technologies.
