1 Minute Read by Reuters Staff (Reuters) – PARIS, July 3 (Reuters) – France’s economic growth will be reliant on its COVID-19 immunization program, according to French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire in an interview published on the newspaper’s website on Saturday. Concerns about the impact of the Delta strain of the coronavirus, which now accounts for around a third of all cases in France, are growing, according to Health Minister Olivier Veran. Because of the hazards posed by the Delta variety, which was first found in India, Le Maire announced at the end of June that he would preserve his 5% French economic growth prognosis for 2021 rather than giving a higher estimate like the one issued by the Bank of France. “Vaccination will be critical to our growth,” Le Maire told Le Parisien.
