JELI (10 July): Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy), stated the government administration is still doing a good job of working toward economic recovery and ensuring that people are safe throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite their flaws, he said, every leader in the country is open to criticism and the perspectives of all parties, particularly professionals in certain disciplines, in order to improve existing problems.
“A paralyzed government is a failed government, but in Malaysia, the public administration and institutions, including the business sector, are still functioning normally. Even politicians are working to ensure the people’s well-being.
“We (the government) are not perfect, and we will continue to discuss and address the health and economic crises because the people expect the leaders to protect them,” he told reporters after distributing food baskets under the People’s Well-Being and Economic Recovery Package (PEMULIH) in Kampung Berdang today.
Mustapa was responding to a Bloomberg article that put Malaysia 51st out of 53 economies in the Covid-19 Resilience Ranking for combating the virus with the least degree of societal and economic harm.
In addition to the assistance packages mentioned previously, the Jeli MP stated that the administration will do everything possible for the sake of the country to devise various solutions.
Mustapa said that 6,000 food baskets would be distributed to those in need throughout the Jeli parliamentary constituency within a week, through sub-district heads, mosques, and community leaders “Since March 2020, the Jeli MP community service center has distributed 33,800 food baskets to residents affected by Covid-19, and the assistance will continue to ensure that everyone has enough to eat and no one is left behind.
“Anyone in the Jeli parliamentary constituency who is in need or has been forgotten can seek help from the Jeli MP community service center,” Mustapa added./nRead More
