The Indian smartphone market stabilized in the second quarter, with total shipments of 36.1 million units, representing a 1% decline year-on-year, according to a report released by analyst firm Canalys on July 19. Compared to the 20% year-on-year fall in the first quarter, it suggests the Indian smartphone market is on the road to recovery. Korean phone giant Samsung continued to dominate, occupying 18% of the market with 6.6 million shipments. Vivo followed closely, shipping 6.4 million phones, while Xiaomi secured third place with 5.4 million shipments. Chinese phone brands Realme and Oppo ranked fourth and fifth, shipping 4.3 million and 3.7 million units each. [Canalys]
