FILE PHOTO: REUTERS/Francis Mascarenhas (Reuters) – NEW DELHI (Reuters) – The sale of gasoline and gasoil by Indian state refiners increased in June compared to the previous month, according to preliminary industry statistics released on Thursday, as governments throughout the nation removed coronavirus-related restrictions as cases declined. According to the data, state refiners’ gasoline sales increased by 29.4 percent in June compared to May, while diesel sales increased by 18.5 percent. Due to nationwide lockdowns, sales fell by nearly a fifth in May compared to the previous month. The data indicated that gasoline sales were up 5.7 percent over the same period the previous year, but diesel sales were down 1.8 percent.
