Instagram, which is owned by Facebook Inc (NASDAQ: FB), is testing major improvements to the photo-sharing app, including full-screen and recommended videos in feeds, among other things, according to Adam Mosseri, Instagram’s CEO, in a Twitter post on Wednesday.
What happened was this: Mosseri explained in a two-minute video that Instagram is more than simply a square photo-sharing software; it also has video, messaging, and e-commerce capabilities.
Instagram is exploring with how it might integrate “a full screen, immersive, fun, mobile-first video” feature, according to Mosseri, who added that the company will be experimenting with a lot of things in this sector in the coming months.

The huge changes at Instagram, according to Mosseri, could be in response to the growing popularity and competition from Chinese-owned TikTok, a social app upstart, and Alphabet Inc-owned (NASDAQ: GOOGL) (NASDAQ: GOOG) Google.
“Let’s be honest,” Mosseri remarked, “there is some really significant competition right now.” “TikTok is massive, YouTube is even larger, and there are a slew of other upstarts.”
On Wednesday, Facebook shares fell 1.19 percent to $347.71, closing at $347.71.
