The Sabah State government’s investment arm is QSSB.
To make cooperation easier, both companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today.
According to Andy Ang Lam Poah, chief executive officer of JAKS, the agreement might help both parties develop their renewable energy business activities.
“We are confident that the collaboration on the projects will be fruitful,” he said in a media statement, citing his experience in the power sector, particularly with the construction and development of the JAKS Hai Duong coal-fired thermal power plant in Vietnam, which has an aggregate capacity of 1,200 megawatts.
The JAKS Hai Duong power plant, according to Ang, was constructed six months ahead of schedule and began commercial operation in January 2021.
In addition, JAKS has been shortlisted for Malaysia’s large-scale LSS4 solar power project, which will be the country’s first entry into renewable energy.
