KUALA LUMPUR (July 7): Johor State Secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani and Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) vice-chancellor Lt Gen Datuk Hasagaya Abdullah were named as the recipients of the Tokoh Generasi 2020 Award in conjunction with the Settlers’ Day 2021 celebration today.

Azmi, son of a settler in Felda Sayong, Johor Bahru, and Hasagaya, son of a settler in Felda Medoi, Segamat, each received a certificate, a plaque and cash of RM1,000.

Meanwhile, Felda Kerteh 2 received RM500,000 after being named the winner of the Felda Village Excellence Award.

As the runner up, Felda Tersang 3 received RM300,000, while Felda Jengka 25 received RM200,000 as the third-place winner.

“The Felda Village Excellence Award is introduced as an initiative to empower the community with the assessment scopes includes economic resources, performance, education and infrastructure,” Felda said in a statement.

Several new awards were also introduced this year including the Tokoh Belia Award, Tokoh Beliawanis Award, Tokoh Generasi Lelaki Award and Tokoh Generasi Perempuan Award to celebrate the achievements of individuals who have contributed much to the Felda community.
