SEPANG, PHILIPPINES (July 5): The Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s (KLIA) industry vaccination clinic (PPVIN) opened its doors today, exclusively for frontline aviation personnel (KLIA). The spacious and comfortable KLIA PPVIN, which is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the KLIA main terminal building, also offers a view of the various airlines’ aircraft types.
Kellyn Ching Shu Ann, 41, of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), shared her experience at the KLIA PPVIN, saying she now feels more confident to operate in the field after receiving her first dosage of the Sinovac vaccination.
“I’m overjoyed to finally be vaccinated after registering since the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (PICK) began in February. I had previously attempted to register for the AstraZeneca vaccination but had been unable to do so due to a lack of availability “Bernama was there today when she narrated her story.
According to Bernama, each beneficiary spent roughly 45 minutes at the PPVIN completing the immunization process.
Ching thought that after the program at KLIA PPVIN is done, the airline industry will be able to resume operations following the long period of travel restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I think that as a result of this, travelers would feel more comfortable traveling. We (MAHB) do everything we can to help reopen the national border “she stated
Meanwhile, Muhammad Amri Bahri Sunif, 29, a KLIA Aerotrain executive engineer, said he was keen to get vaccinated as soon as possible because he believes it is his obligation to safeguard his family and coworkers from infection.
“Since Movement Control Order 1.0 last year, I’ve had to labor in the field, therefore I’m at a high risk of contracting Covid-19 and infecting people around me,” he explained.
The KLIA PPVIN, according to Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, was established to streamline and expedite vaccination for around 22,000 personnel from the aviation and associated businesses at KLIA.
MAHB is collaborating with a number of airlines, including Malaysia Airlines Berhad, Malindo Air, AeroDarat, the Airline Operators Committee (AOC), foreign airlines represented by the Airline Operators Committee (AOC), and cargo workers represented by the Airfreight Forwarders Association of Malaysia (AFAM), to get workers immunised as part of the program.
Wee also stated that for the land transportation sector, PPVs will be set up in a number of locations across the country to ensure that 19,259 train workers and bus drivers are vaccinated as soon as possible.
Furthermore, he stated that the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) are nearing completion of a statewide immunization program for 355,064 bus, taxi, and e-hailing drivers, as well as p-hailing staff.
“The government will bear the complete cost of the initiative to be implemented as public immunizations,” Wee stated./nRead More
