KEPALA BATAS (April 5): The Higher Education Ministry (KPT) encourages more automotive industry players to undergo the Hybrid and Electric Vehicles Professional Certification (Level Four) at Kolej Komuniti Kepala Batas, which is the only level four of such course offered outside the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Mansor Othman said the college was recognised as the Approved Centre by the Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) from the United Kingdom, with hybrid and electric vehicles being the college’s niche area.

He said the college has been offering Level One to Level Three of the course since 2014 and as of last year, a total of 927 local and foreign participants had registered in automotive courses at the college including from Singapore, Fiji, Bangladesh, Romania, Mauritius and the United Kingdom.

“The Level Four certification is expected to be offered in the third quarter of the year with the contribution of an electric car from Mili Auto & Hybrid Service Sdn Bhd,” he told reporters after attending the Malaysia Prihatin road tour programme here today.

He said the course was expected to attract more participation from local and foreign industry players as the cost is more affordable in Malaysia compared to the United Kingdom and Ireland.

He added that participants who completed the course would be recognised as having competency and expertise in the automotive field, particularly in hybrid and electric vehicles, and also qualified to work abroad as the certificate is recognised internationally.
