KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (July 5): Malaysia and Qatar are dedicated to strengthening bilateral commercial and economic ties, building on their already strong and lively relationships.
Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Senior Minister and International Trade and Industry Minister, said Qatar was also eager to begin serious conversations about the Malaysia-Qatar travel bubble in order to enhance tourism between the two countries.
Mohamed Azmin tweeted today that his discussion with Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani was really fruitful and interesting.
The Covid-19 epidemic, the Malaysia-Qatar Joint Commercial Committee (JTC), the Malaysia-Qatar travel bubble, and bilateral trade and economic ties, he claimed, were among the subjects highlighted.
“I was particularly encouraged by Sheikh Khalid’s proposal to immediately resume the Malaysia-Qatar JTC meeting,” he said, “as this is critical to putting in place the operations and functions that will expedite our efforts to enhance bilateral trade and investment and foster strategic business partnerships.”
When Qatar starts hosting the World Islamic Economic Forum, more prospects for cross-border and global economic and corporate linkages are expected, according to Mohamed Azmin (WIEF).
Meanwhile, Sheikh Khalid praised the joint-venture for the large-scale integrated dairy project in Malaysia between Qatar’s largest locally-owned food and dairy manufacturer Baladna, FGV Holdings Bhd, and FELCRA Bhd, he said.
Mohamed Azmin is on a three-day trade and investment trip in Qatar, according to the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), to promote Malaysia as a preferred investment destination and strengthen bilateral trade and economic ties./nRead More
