Malaysia’s central bank announced on Friday that it has received 29 applications for digital banking licenses.
Banks, industrial conglomerates, technology enterprises, e-commerce operators, fintech players, cooperatives, and state governments are among the applicants, according to Bank Negara Malaysia.
In the first quarter of 2022, the central bank aims to grant up to five licenses.
