KUALA LUMPUR (June 1): Renowned experts, consultants and industry practitioners from over 15 countries would converge remotely for the Global Net-Zero Action Conference 2021 from June 8-11, to promote transformation towards a net-zero economy.

Datuk Dr Abdul Aziz S.A. Kadir, chairman of Confexhub, the conference co-organiser along with the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), said the group has prepared the forum for the need of systemic shifts that are expected to change the trajectory of greenhouse gas (GHC) levels in the atmosphere, which in turn will promote transformation towards a net-zero economy.

“The conference is expected to be launched by the Environment and Water Minister Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

“In order to facilitate in-depth knowhow transfer, we have also lined up three special focus workshops on carbon accounting, going net-zero and carbon trading with stimulation to those that are serious on their net-zero transformation plan,” he said in a statement today.

Abdul Aziz added that the workshops would offer the entrant a micro-credential upon completion of the workshop issued by Confexhub’s Australian partner, The Tropical Hub.

The four-and-a-half-day conference would have over 20 paper presentations under the selected theme “Transitioning to A Net-Zero Economy – Unlocking the Potential of Asia and the Global South”.

The conference would also focus on, among others, policies and standards to regulate GHG emissions, climate strategies and setting targets to manage carbon; low carbon, carbon capture and storage technologies; carbon pricing, financing and carbon trading, and carbon reporting and monitoring systems.
