KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (July 8): The number of new Covid-19 infections in Malaysia increased to 8,868 today, bringing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 808,658.
This is the country’s second-highest daily infection rate ever reported.
On May 29, there were 9,020 new cases, which was the greatest amount thus far.
Selangor, according to Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, had the greatest number of new daily infections today, with 4,152, bringing the state’s total cases to 272,993.
Notably, today’s total of 4,152 new daily cases in Selangor is the state’s highest ever.
Kuala Lumpur had 1,133 new cases for the third day in a row, surpassing the 1,000-case threshold.
Negeri Sembilan (897), Perak (543), Kedah (360), Johor (336), Sarawak (281), Sabah (279), Penang (237), Melaka (183), Pahang (152), and Kelantan are among the states with three-digit new cases (135).
